Birthday photo shoot, Birmingham

What a great present to have a birthday photo shoot at Brindley place with your best friends. I totally love it when a parent contacts me with the request to photograph her teenager for a birthday photo shoot at Brindley Place in Birmingham with some friends. This time it was for Beth and her special friends. In preparation of the photo shoot I always involve them and ask to give me their ideas/look/feel they would like to create. They did not disappoint. After the initial consultation it was decided that they did not want it to be too ‘girlie’ as they wanted to be themselves so we settled for a walk around Brindley Place www.brindleyplace.com/ and the SeaLife Centre http://www.visitsealife.com/Birmingham/ in Birmingham. They were all well prepared with different outfits and we met at the birthday girl’s house. After the first introductions and giggles we set off to Brindley Place. The weather was very kind to us so we did not have to carry coats, scarves and gloves with us. And we were off for literally  ‘just a walk’ and before I knew all kind of ideas, poses and locations were suggested and I’m interested in doing something different all the time so we had great fun. Thanks to the birthday girl’s younger sister who joined us in our adventures and was more than happy to assist me with reflectors and carry my coffee! At one stage we even had a security guard following us that caused quite a stir amongst the girls; we kept on walking into different directions until we got rid of him. Were we a possible threat to the general public? All the girls were great fun and up to anything and before I knew they were posing like professionals!  Before we finalised the shoot, they still had the energy to do a ‘bridge’ over water with their bodies. They were able to keep it going and in the end only one of the girls got a little wet. It’s a great idea to have a special occasion or a birthday party with a photographer.
