Being a mum is a blessing

Being a mum is a blessing

Being a mum makes me feel very blessed – Abby Wilkes

Being a mum can be a challenging job yet it is also be very rewarding.

The best part of being a mother, in my opinion, is that with young children every moment is a new adventure. I love seeing their eyes light up with every new discovery. From figuring out how to sound out words, to mastering that addition problem, to just playing school with the teddy bears from their bedroom — everything is done with an innocence and a sense of awe. Thanks to my children I started appreciated the little things in life again.

I love how I feel like my children are teaching me to be the best version of myself that I can be. As a mom, I need to be more patient, kinder,  and more rational than I generally am able to be on my own. They bring out the best in me.

Now that I’m a mom, I make time to do the fun things in life like  bake cookies or paint a canvas. When it was just my  husband and me, we would just breeze past holidays and other traditions. Life just feels like it has more substance now.

Seeing the confident, free-thinking, creative people they have become, helps me remember that the little stumbles in parenting mean very little in the long run.

It’s often enough that mother’s do not want to be in photo shoots with the children. We are so aware, so we think, of our short comings, and it’s only us mothers who see them. When you look at images of your own mother, you don’t look at the hair debacles, we look at the loving smile, the familiar clothes and remember the soft stomach, the freckled skin.

It’s about to show your children how much you love them, to show the family bond. Your children do not care what you look like.

Why don’t you give me a call on 07966 867306 or email me on and have a chat about a family shoot that celebrates being a mum.
